Construction of a new road along the Northern flank in 2004, allowing all-weather access to the low lying fields - even when they are inundated, as occurs in some winters. One of its main purposes is access precisely during such periods, dramatically beautiful, when, as shown on Corgo Flooded, the foot of the property is bathed by a wide, slow flowing river. The sight of this bulldozer raging through the wooded hillside was heart-rending, reminiscent of similar scenes of destruction in Africa and Amazonia. Progress making its cruel inroads... But the animals will love it. Horses, as seen on Animal Farm 2 were the first to discover this new shortcut.

One of two new bridges constructed in 2003 by Nelson Castanho and company under the inspired guidance of Joaquim de Samouqueira, in foreground with trowel, heir to large parts of the original herdade. One of the three access roads to the property runs across this new bridge, then swings behind the house visible in the background (the house where Joaquim was born, detached along with half a hectare and sold to a third party many years ago). As seen on Overview close 2 the track continues up the Southern flank of the hill in a gentle sweep, flanked by bushes of wild lavender and cistus rose.
