Overview of the Herdade da Samouqueira from the neighbouring property. The view is towards the NE. The picture was taken in early spring. The land at the bottom has only recently fallen dry from its winter flooding, and is turning a vibrant green.
The tree line in the distance roughly indicates the Northern boundary of the herdade. The Southern boundary is out of view, but commences roughly at the far right of the treeline. The Western extreme, marked by a small brook, is a little to the left of the edge of the image. On this 35 mm image, the Eastern extreme is well beyond frame on the right hand side.
One of the most attractive building sites is right in middle of the picture, on the top of the bluff, well away from the decline. It provides a lovely pastoral view of the old farm from which this picture was taken, and an appetizing bit of seaview. An additional advantage is that the site is sheltered from Westerly winds by a towering ridge of eucalyptus, part of dense and jungle-like woods that cover the hill's Westerly flank of the hill.
Other fine building sites are on the next bluff over, and on the gently undulating fields along the Northern extreme, which provide expansive views across the property and the neighbouring landscape, providing a pleasant sense of ownership.
