The North-Western tip of the Herdade da Samouqueira (in the centre of the image) as seen when approached from Vila Nova de Milfontes via the road to São Luís: a wooded bluff with pastures at its base and meadows flowing down the undulating slopes. The open space in the foreground, which continues on towards the Rio Mira and the ocean, is the Corgo do Porto da Mó, once the bed of a mighty river. It is a favourite playground for storks and the small white egrets known as Nile birds.
