Sridevi India 17th century Bronze, detail Height 44 cm A bronze image of the Goddess Sridevi, the consort of Vishnu, stands on a two-tiered plinth. She is holding a lotus (padma) in her left hand, and wears her characteristic horizontal breast band (khucha-bhanda). She wears her hair in done op in a mukutu and through a disc at the back. She has sashes hanging from either hip and to either side, and is laden with ornaments. Her right hand hangs to her side, a bright expression lights her face, one is hip thrust to the side in a slight tribhanga pose. South Indian, probably Tamil Nadu.
